Dr. Thomas J. Braza

Thomas J Braza is a Medical Doctor, Fellowship Trained Mohs Surgeon who is Board Certified in both Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatology.  Dr. Braza emphasizes outstanding patient care with his empathetic and supportive bedside manner.  He is known for his personal follow-up and love for helping others.  Patient satisfaction in all aspects remains Dr. Braza’s number one priority.

Dr. Braza completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, graduating magna cum laude with highest honors.  He received his M.D. degree from Emory University School of Medicine.  Dr. Braza continued his training at Emory where he completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology.  He then completed an intensive one year study of Mohs Surgery and Advanced Facial Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.  Dr. Braza is extensively trained in surgical reconstruction, including basic closures, and more complicated skin flaps and skin grafts.  His goal is to provide the best possible cosmetic result after the removal of your skin cancer.

Dr. Braza is dual Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, a member of the American Society of Dermatology Surgery, and a member of the North Carolina Dermatology Association.

Thomas J Braza, MD has performed over 21,000 Mohs surgeries and reconstructive cases.  While any Board Certified Dermatologist may perform Mohs surgery, Dr. Braza completed an additional one year intensive training fellowship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky under supervision of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) and an ACMS approved Mohs and Reconstructive surgeon.  He is Board Certified in Mohs Micrographic Surgery.  The ACMS is the ONLY organization that requires a rigorous application and review process, an additional 1 to 2 year training after completing a Dermatology residence, and participation in at least 500 Mohs surgery cases.  The American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) has and continues to set the highest standards of patient care relating to the management of skin cancers, Mohs surgery and reconstruction through its fellowship training process.
